The NCCE Yendi Municipal Office engaged the public through a live radio discussion on GBC NAYA Radio to raise awareness on the importance of tax compliance and civic responsibility. The programme formed part of the Commission’s efforts to educate citizens on their constitutional duties, particularly in the area of taxation. Speaking during the session, Mr. Osman Kassim, the Municipal Director of NCCE Yendi, highlighted the challenges the Municipal Assembly faces in generating enough Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to support local development initiatives.
Mr. Kassim emphasized that taxes are essential for funding public services such as education, healthcare, sanitation, roads, and security, while also supporting democratic governance. He urged citizens to honour their tax obligations, noting that doing so fosters a sense of accountability and partnership between the people and their leaders. The engagement concluded with a call to all residents of Yendi to be ambassadors of tax compliance and contribute to national progress through their civic duties.
