NCCE Takes Accountability Dialogue to Airwaves, Highlights Corruption Risks in Education and Health

Quality public services depend not only on the resources available, but also on how transparently and responsibly those resources are managed. This formed the focus of a discussion held at the studios of Coastal TV in Cape Coast, following the Town Hall Meeting held on Thursday, 13 August 2026, on the theme, “Strengthening Transparency and Accountability for Inclusive Service Delivery in Ghana.”

The discussion provided an opportunity to revisit key issues raised during the Town Hall Meeting, particularly findings from the Corruption Risks Assessment (CRA) Report on Ghana’s education and health sectors.

The assessment was conducted under the Inclusive Service Delivery in Africa Project, implemented by Transparency International, and seeks to identify corruption risks that can undermine the effective delivery of essential public services.

During the discussion, attention was drawn to the critical role of transparency, accountability and citizen participation in improving the quality and accessibility of public services. Participants emphasized that citizens must be empowered to understand how public resources are utilized and to demand accountability from institutions responsible for delivering essential services.

The discussion further highlighted the need to identify and address corruption risks within the education and health sectors, while strengthening systems and institutional mechanisms that promote responsible resource management.

Education and healthcare remain fundamental to Ghana’s development, and ensuring that citizens have equitable access to quality services requires the collective commitment of public institutions, service providers, and citizens.

The media engagement therefore served as an important extension of the Town Hall Meeting, taking the conversation beyond the meeting space and into the homes and communities of citizens. It reinforced the message that transparency and accountability are shared responsibilities and that active citizen participation is essential to achieving inclusive and effective service delivery in Ghana.
