NCCE today received a fact-finding mission delegation from the House of Democratic Partnership (United States House of Representatives) at its Head Office in Accra. The delegation from the US was accompanied by representatives from the Parliament of Ghana, led by Mrs. Afia Tenge, Director of Public Engagements.
The team is in Ghana to conduct a series of meetings with parliamentary stakeholders that can provide insight into different aspects of the legislature.
NCCE's Deputy Chairman, Finance and Administration, Lawyer Victor Brobbey explained among others the mandate of the Commission, its core values, a brief history of the establishment of the Commission, and the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
He outlined the Commission's role that involves the Legislature and mentioned that during elections the NCCE intensifies voter education in Constituencies and engages with citizens generally on civics, the role of Parliamentarians, the need to sustain the country’s democracy, and citizens’ involvement in holding political leaders accountable by creating platforms such as Parliamentary Debates, etc.
