NCCE, Promise Radio collaborate to empanel students in Amansie West District for a radio show

The National Commission for Civic Education has begun rolling out the 2025 edition of its student-centred flagship programme dubbed the “Citizenship Week Celebration”.In commemoration of this, the Amansie West District Office of the Commission has partnered with Promise 105.1 Radio to host some young students from various basic schools in the District on a radio programme.

Beyond giving the young ones a voice, the initiative was aimed at magnifying the sentiments of the younger generation in national discourse, as they are deemed the future leaders of our beloved country.

Under the overarching theme, “Ghana’s Future: Our Collective Responsibility, and the sub-theme, “Ghana’s Future: The Role of the Ghanaian Child, discussions pivoted on the need to mentor and prepare young Ghanaians to become responsible citizens and patriotic leaders.

Representing their peers and schools with enthusiasm and poise, the student panellists emphasised that the Citizenship Week engagement has given them insights into the 1992 Constitution, such as the importance of being law-abiding citizens, and the values that underpin nation-building.

Responding to questions on their duties as young citizens, the opinionated pupils pointed out that every child can contribute to national development by keeping their surroundings clean, saying no to illicit drugs and exam malpractice, assisting their classmates, and promoting peace and unity in their communities.

In his concluding remarks, Director of the Amansie West Directorate of the Commission, Mr. Aziz Laryea, indicated that Ghana’s future depends on what the children learn, believe, and do in the present times, underscoring the essence of the Citizenship Week Celebration as a reminder to the children of the critical role they play in shaping Ghana through values such as patriotism, discipline, tolerance, unity, and environmental responsibility.

”Their confidence and articulation are a demonstration of the success of the NCCE’s ongoing efforts to mentor and educate the youth not just for leadership roles in future, but as active citizens of today”, he stated.
