NCCE Nandom Sensitizes Public on Tax Compliance and Revenue Mobilization

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Nandom Municipal Office, has intensified public education on tax compliance, urging residents to honor their tax obligations to support development and strengthen revenue mobilization in the Municipality.

The engagement was held on Thursday, 30 July 2026, on Nandom FM 101.9 MHz from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., as part of efforts to support the government’s revenue mobilization drive and promote responsible citizenship.

During the radio programme, the Office educated listeners on the penalties associated with non-payment of taxes, while emphasizing the direct link between tax compliance and development. Listeners were reminded that taxes serve as an important source of revenue for providing essential public services and developing infrastructure within communities.

Furthermore, the NCCE called on the Nandom Municipal Assembly to provide adequate training for tax collectors to improve their professionalism and prevent challenges such as multiple taxation and harassment of taxpayers.

The Office also encouraged the Assembly to adopt digital systems for tax collection to improve efficiency, enhance transparency, and minimize revenue leakages.

The engagement therefore highlighted the shared responsibility of citizens and local authorities in strengthening tax administration. While residents were encouraged to pay their taxes promptly, the Assembly was urged to ensure that tax collection processes are transparent, efficient, and respectful of taxpayers.

Through such engagements, the NCCE continues to promote civic responsibility and deepen public understanding of the role citizens and institutions play in Ghana’s development.
