The Mamprugu Moagduri District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) commemorated the 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration with civic education engagements in selected schools across the district.
The program was held under the sub-theme, "Growing Up Digital: The Ghanaian Child Upholding the Constitution Online," and formed part of the Commission's efforts to promote responsible digital citizenship among school children.
During the interactive sessions, students were educated on cyberbullying, misinformation and disinformation, internet fraud, and other forms of online scams. They were encouraged to become responsible digital citizens by using the internet safely and ethically while respecting the rights of others.
Addressing the students, Mr. Abubakari Andani Abdul Hanan, the Civic Field Officer (CFO), urged them to make productive use of the internet by using it as a tool for learning and personal development rather than engaging in cybercrime. He cautioned students against activities such as hacking mobile money (Momo) and social media accounts, emphasizing that such acts are criminal offences with serious legal consequences.
Mr. Abdul Hanan also advised the students to exercise caution when sharing information obtained online, explaining that circulating suspicious or unverified content could expose their personal information to fraudsters and other cybercriminals. He encouraged them to verify information before sharing it and to protect their personal data while using digital platforms.
He concluded by reminding the students that the values and responsibilities enshrined in the 1992 Constitution of Ghana apply both online and offline, urging them to uphold the Constitution through responsible behavior in all aspects of their lives.
