NCCE Ga West Promotes Responsible Citizenship Through Education on Environment, Cybersecurity and GBV

From protecting the environment to staying safe online and speaking up against gender-based violence, responsible citizenship goes beyond knowing one’s rights. It also involves making informed choices that protect individuals, communities, and the country. It was against this backdrop that the NCCE Ga West Municipal Office engaged workers and prospective participants at the Maynat Fashion Centre at Sapeiman.

The engagement focused on three important national and civic concerns: environmental governance, cybercrime and security, and gender-based violence (GBV).

Serving as resource persons, Mr. Joseph Majoub and Madam Evelyn Aniakwah took participants through discussions aimed at deepening their understanding of their civic responsibilities and the role they can play in addressing these challenges.

On environmental governance, participants were encouraged to adopt responsible practices and recognise their role in protecting the environment and contributing to sustainable development. The discussion on cybercrime and security, meanwhile, emphasised the need for responsible use of the internet and greater awareness of online risks.

The session also addressed gender-based violence, with participants sensitised on the importance of preventing abuse, supporting victims and reporting cases through the appropriate channels.

Through the engagement, participants were reminded that national development and community safety require the active involvement of citizens. They were therefore encouraged to apply the knowledge gained in their daily lives and become responsible actors within their communities.

The programme formed part of the NCCE’s ongoing civic education efforts to promote informed, responsible and active citizenship among residents of the Ga West Municipality.
