NCCE Engages Terchire SHS Students on Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption

The Tano North Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged students of Terchire Senior High School on issues relating to the rule of law, accountability, and the fight against corruption.

The educational program, held on 15th May 2026 at the school’s Assembly Hall, formed part of efforts to deepen civic awareness among the youth and promote responsible citizenship. The event commenced at 9:00 a.m. with the introduction of guests and a welcome address delivered by the Tano North Municipal Director of NCCE.

In attendance were one hundred and sixty (160) students, as well as officials from the NCCE Directorate, including Mr. Joseph Oduro-Buabeng, Municipal Director, Mrs. Konlanbik Matilda, Mr. Appiah Kennedy, and Mr. Datsomor Francis Mensah. Representatives from the Ghana News Agency and the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice also participated in the program.

Speaking during the engagement, Victor Osei highlighted key issues, including ethical leadership, conflict of interest, and influence peddling. He explained that ethical leadership requires honesty, fairness, and prioritizing public interest above personal benefit.

Students were also educated on conflict of interest, which was described as situations where personal interests interfere with official responsibilities. Influence peddling, he noted, involves using personal connections to gain an unfair advantage.

The presentation further emphasized that all citizens are equal before the law and that leaders must remain transparent and accountable in the management of public resources.

The program was supported by the European Union and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
