NCCE Educates Congregants on Domestic Violence at Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro

The Ga South Municipal Office of the NCCE carried out a civic education outreach on domestic violence at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in the Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency. The public sensitisation, led by Ms. Mabel Sroda Ahiagba and Ms. Rita Dzifa Aklinu, aimed to promote civic awareness and human rights protection by educating congregants on the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act, 2007 (Act 732).

The session highlighted the five major forms of abuse: physical, psychological, economic, emotional, and sexual, while urging church members to embrace mutual respect, healthy communication, and care within their homes. The outreach team further cautioned against sexual abuse, particularly against minors, stressing that such acts are serious criminal offenses.

Participants were advised to respect their partners economic contributions and career choices to maintain harmony in their relationships. Congregants were encouraged to promptly report cases of domestic violence to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service, the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), and the Department of Social Welfare for redress and protection.
