NCCE calls on Local Government Minister

Management of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has paid a courtesy call to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs to strengthen collaboration under the new administration.

The engagement aimed at reaffirming the Commission’s role in democratic governance through civic education while exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation in stimulating public consciousness on decentralised governance, democratic values, and national development.

Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, commended the NCCE for its crucial role in educating the public on government policies and democratic principles.

He emphasised the Commission’s importance in bridging the gap in policy dissemination and promoting civic responsibility and further acknowledged the need for sustained support to enable the Commission to carry out its mandate effectively.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of NCCE, Ms. Kathleen Addy, assured Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim of the Commission’s poise to fulfil its constitutional obligations via strategic collaborations with key stakeholders, including the Ministry.

She additionally highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen civic engagement, counter misinformation, and promote democratic values, indicating NCCE’s commitment to working closely with other government institutions and partners to enhance public understanding of governance and national development issues.
