NCCE and GACC Inspire Ga South Students to Champion Integrity on African Anti-Corruption Day

The Ga South Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), has commemorated the 2026 African Anti-Corruption Day with an interactive sensitization program for students of Hobor M/A Basic School and Kwaku Panfo M/A Basic School.

The program, held under the theme “Scaling Up the Promotion of Integrity and Anti-Corruption Actions Across Africa,” aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of corruption, promote the values of integrity and accountability, and inspire young people to become ethical leaders in their schools and communities.

Resource persons Mr. Dan Abonyi Yamoah and Mr. Abraham Amankwah Adjei, with support from Ms. Mabel Sroda Ahiagba and Ms. Rita Dzifa Aklinu, engaged the students on the meaning of corruption and integrity, the negative impact of corruption on national development, and the importance of honesty, transparency, and accountability in everyday life.

The facilitators encouraged active participation through an open forum, during which the students shared their understanding and personal observations of corruption. They also discussed how corrupt practices affect their schools and communities and proposed practical ways to promote integrity and contribute to the fight against corruption.

As part of the discussions, the students were encouraged to uphold strong moral values and adopt the 3Rs of Fighting Corruption, Resist, Reject, and Report. They were urged to report corrupt practices to institutions such as the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), the Ghana Police Service, and responsible community leaders. The facilitators stressed that every citizen, regardless of age, has a responsibility to contribute to building a transparent, accountable, and corruption-free Ghana.

The program concluded with a call on the students to become ambassadors of integrity by demonstrating honesty, fairness, and responsibility in their daily lives while inspiring others to do the same. The event also reaffirmed the commitment of the NCCE and GACC to nurturing responsible citizens who will uphold integrity and help build a just, transparent, and accountable society.
