The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Ledzokuku Municipal, organized a sensitization programme for students of Teshie Central Apostolic School. The programme focused on the Duties of a Citizen, Responsible Citizenship, Patriotism, Tolerance, and Good Governance, aimed at instilling civic values and a sense of national responsibility in students.
Madam Gifty Amedzro, Senior Civic Education Officer, took students through the topics of Tolerance and Good Governance. She educated students on the importance of accepting and respecting differing views, cultures, and beliefs as a foundation for peaceful coexistence. On good governance, she explained the principles of transparency, accountability, and the rule of law and encouraged students to embrace these values as future leaders and citizens.
Madam Regina Adeti, Assistant Director, addressed students on Responsible Citizenship and Patriotism. She emphasized the duties every citizen owes to the nation, including obedience to the law, payment of taxes, and active participation in nation-building. On patriotism, she encouraged students to develop a genuine love for their country, demonstrated through honesty, hard work, and a willingness to contribute positively to national development.
Both resource persons stressed that civic responsibility begins at the individual level and that students, as future leaders, have a duty to embody these values in their everyday lives at home, in school, and in the wider community.
Students and school authorities welcomed the programme warmly, commending the resource persons for the practical and relatable manner in which the topics were delivered. The engagement went a long way in reinforcing students' sense of duty as citizens and highlighting the values needed to foster unity, discipline, and sound governance within the nation. NCCE Ledzokuku Municipal restated its dedication to ongoing civic education initiatives in schools across the district.
