Ga West NCCE Engages Sarpaman Taxi Station on Environmental Governance, Cybersecurity and GBV

The Ga West Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged participants at the Sarpaman Taxi Station as part of efforts to promote responsible citizenship, public awareness, and active participation in addressing key social and civic issues.

The engagement focused on environmental governance, cybercrime and security, and gender-based violence (GBV), with participants taken through their individual and collective responsibilities in promoting safer communities and supporting national development.

Mr. Joseph Majoub and Ms. Evelyn Aniakwah served as resource persons for the programme. They explained the importance of protecting the environment through responsible practices, including proper waste disposal, maintaining clean surroundings, and avoiding activities that contribute to environmental degradation.

Participants were also sensitised on cybercrime and the need to exercise caution when using digital platforms. They were encouraged to protect their personal information, avoid suspicious links and messages, use strong passwords, and report suspected cases of online fraud or other cyber-related offences to the appropriate authorities.

On gender-based violence, participants were educated on the need to reject all forms of abuse and violence, support victims and report cases to the relevant institutions. The resource persons emphasised that preventing GBV requires the collective effort of individuals, families, communities and state institutions.

The engagement further encouraged participants to adopt responsible attitudes in their daily activities and to contribute actively to building peaceful, secure and well-governed communities. The NCCE reaffirmed the importance of continuous civic education in strengthening public awareness and encouraging citizens to take responsibility for issues that affect their communities and the country as a whole.
