Environmental Protection Is a Daily Responsibility, Ada East NCCE Urges Pupils

As part of activities marking World Environment Day, the Ada East District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has intensified efforts to promote environmental consciousness among young people in the district. The initiative aimed at strengthening pupils’ understanding that environmental protection is not merely a slogan but a daily responsibility rooted in simple, consistent actions.

Through direct engagement with pupils in selected schools, the Commission educated learners on the importance of protecting natural resources, planting and nurturing trees, and adopting behaviours that contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment. The outreach also highlighted how the everyday choices of young people can either worsen or mitigate the effects of climate change in their communities.

In addition, the programme encouraged active participation from students through discussions and hands-on activities designed to deepen their appreciation of environmental stewardship. Pupils were guided to recognize their role in safeguarding natural resources and ensuring a sustainable future for generations yet unborn.

The Ada East NCCE further reinforced the message that young people are key stakeholders in environmental protection. It emphasized that building a strong culture of environmental responsibility begins with education, awareness creation, and consistent action at the grassroots level.

The World Environment Day engagement ultimately served as a reminder that protecting the environment is a shared duty that requires continuous commitment from all members of society, especially the youth.
