Empowering Women in East Mamprusi to Uphold the Rule of Law and Fight Against Corruption

The NCCE East Mamprusi Municipal Office has organised an educational engagement for women’s groups in Gambaga, aimed at empowering them to understand their rights, uphold the rule of law, and resist corruption.

The programme forms part of a GIZ/EU project under the theme: “Civic Engagement on the Rule of Law and the Fight Against Corruption.”

Mr. Abdulai Arabi Abdul-Mugis, East Mamprusi Municipal Director of the NCCE, emphasised the importance of empowering women to understand their civic rights and responsibilities in the fight against corruption to strengthen democratic governance.

Lance Corporal Amina Braimah from DOVVSU encouraged the women to identify, resist, and report corrupt practices, including extortion and sexual harassment. Mr. Sulley Sawyer Salifu from CHRAJ also urged participants to uphold the rule of law.

The programme covered various topics, including the principles of the rule of law, the Whistleblower Act, the Domestic Violence Act, and the Right to Information Act — equipping participants with the knowledge to advocate for their rights and contribute to national development.
