Civic Engagement on Child Abuse and Sexual Harassment - NCCE Tano North

The Tano North Municipal office of the NCCE recently conducted an educational programme for staff and students of Clyde Academy Junior High School on child abuse and sexual harassment. The initiative aimed to address indiscipline among students and prevent sexual harassment by male staff members.

Mr. Datsomor Francis of the NCCE Municipal office emphasized that teachers are considered "second parents" to students, underscoring their responsibility to uphold the school's rules and regulations. He stressed that engaging in any form of sexual relationship with students is unacceptable.

He highlighted the negative consequences of sexual harassment, including students' fear of attending school and potential psychological effects that hinder their ability to concentrate on their academics.

A female teacher expressed enthusiasm about the engagement and emphasized the importance of parents being more involved in child discipline at home to prevent such issues from arising.

The initiative demonstrates the NCCE's commitment to promoting civic awareness and preventing child abuse and sexual harassment in educational institutions, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.
