Bono Regional NCCE Urges Nursing Students to Champion Nation Building

The Bono Regional Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has admonished nursing and midwifery students to embrace a positive mindset and take daily action towards national development. This call was made during a civic engagement session held at the Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training College.

Addressing students on the theme “Ghana’s Future: Our Collective Responsibility,” the Deputy Bono Regional Director, Mr. Peter Kwabena Gyasi, emphasised that Ghana’s prosperity hinges not only on policies and plans but on the everyday choices and attitudes of its citizens.

“A prosperous Ghana depends on our collective mindset, commitment, and action,” Mr. Gyasi stated, urging students to cultivate respect, kindness, and fairness as foundational values for peace and unity in our beloved country.

He highlighted the critical role of every profession in national growth, stressing that nurses, in particular, must embody compassion, empathy, strong communication, critical thinking, and attention to detail to contribute meaningfully to society.

Mr. Gyasi also underscored the importance of environmental stewardship and integrity, noting that responsible use of public resources and accountability from both citizens and leaders are essential for sustainable development.

The Bono Regional Director, Ms. Cynthia Amima Boadu, reinforced the message, advising the students to be architects of positive change. She encouraged them to pursue academic excellence, learn new skills, and promote social justice, environmental sustainability, and a culture of trust and collaboration.

Meanwhile, present at the event was the Dean of Students at the Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Mr. Sylvester Amponsah, who welcomed the Commission’s initiative and encouraged students to internalise the lessons shared.
