Ayikuma Pupils Empowered to Shape Ghana’s Future Through Good Environmental Sustainability Practices

In an effort to cultivate environmental consciousness among Ghana’s youth, the Ga South Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has held an educational session with pupils of Ayikuma M/A Basic School. The activity, led by Mr. Abraham Amankwah Adjei, bordered on the role of a Child in protecting the Environment, which drew enthusiastic participation from the students.

The session aimed to instill a sense of responsibility in young citizens, highlighting how their everyday actions can contribute to safeguarding Ghana’s natural resources and ensuring a sustainable future.

Mr. Adjei delivered a compelling presentation that linked environmental conservation directly to national development, urging pupils to see themselves as active agents of change. “Children are not just the leaders of tomorrow, you are the protectors of today’s environment,” Mr. Adjei emphasised during the session.

The session was highly interactive, with pupils sharing thoughtful ideas on how to reduce pollution, conserve water, and promote tree planting in their communities. These contributions reflected a growing awareness of the environmental challenges facing Ghana and a readiness to be part of the solution.

Pupils were thus, encouraged to think critically and voice their perspectives on environmental issues, fostering civic confidence and ecological literacy. The end additionally underscored the importance of protecting natural resources, positioning environmental stewardship as a patriotic duty.
