The NCCE Kwaebibirem Municipal led Civic Education Club (CEC) members from Islamic JHS Kade and Al-Amin JHS Kade on an educational trip to the Ghana National Ambulance Service located at Kade.
The Emergency Medical Technician, EMT Evans Anim, and 3 other EMT officers started by stating their vision and that the core function is to save lives by attending to domestic emergencies and road traffic coalitions (RTC) hospital-to-hospital referrals.
He cleared misconceptions about the use of the ambulance, stating that its use is to transport patients and not corpses.
The team was taken through the different types of medical equipment used in the ambulances and how they are used to provide first-aid treatment to patients. We also learned about the different medical emergencies that the Ambulance Service attends to and the protocols that are followed to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
We also had the opportunity to interact with the medical professionals and ask questions. This was to help us to gain a better understanding of the experiences of the medical personnel who respond to emergencies, and the dedication and commitment required to work in such a challenging environment.
Overall, our visit to the Ghana Ambulance Service was an eye-opening and rewarding experience that has helped participants appreciate the importance of emergency medical services and the men and women who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.
